Sukob - A Superstitious Belief

Monday, April 26, 2010

Just want to share this, last year i attended a mass when we went to Kamay ni Hesus at Quezon Province, when the Priest there gave us a homily about superstitious beliefs, and one of them is Sukob...

"Sukob" is made when 2 or more members of the immediate family decides to tie knot within the same year... some said that one or all of them will be cursed to live in misfortunes...

The priest said, on his homily that the original setting of the "Sukob" happened long time ago,  the times when most pinoys are concentrated on farming, in a year, they only have two harvest seasons... the first one was offered ONLY to their own patron saint or commonly known as "Fiesta Opisyal", and their second harvest for their own families...  if ever there is a wedding, their respective families will offer their second harvest...  that's why its is forbidden to have a second wedding because they have to offer the first harvest ONLY to their patron saint... that's where "sukob" was born...  and translated vigorously thru time...

in the end, its all up to us if we will going to believe it or not, for there are only two set of commandments in this world, the commandments of man (The Law) and the commandments of God... Life is a choice, we are what we choose to be...

Wedding Preps...

Oh yes, i'm the groom planner, at first, this is all weird for me, i don't know where to start and where to go, confused and all, i start at Mr. Google, then i found Pinoy Exchange they have a dedicated section for brides-to-be, but its lacks the information i need since some of the posts there are outdated, then i search again for a more updated forum,

And then there is GirlTalk forum, they have this Engangement and Weddings section, its way more updated than that of pinoy exchange forum, at first, i find it complicated to read because they have this "wedding lingos", i can't understand some of their posts and what are they talking about, (i guess its a girl thing lol)  its the acronyms like otd, h2b, b2b, hth, tia, ae, hmua, etc... the the name of the forum speaks for itself its definitely a GirlTalk forum, as the day goes by, i was able to catch up especially on the acronyms, there's this one acronym that caught my attention - w@w...

I searched w@w and it stands for Weddings at Work, i found out that it is also a forum, its a well-known yahoo group community for brides-to-be... as soon as i found-out about w@w, i immediately sign-up, and same as every yahoo group community, my membership needs to be approved by the group leader, and i waited a week but still no response, so what i did is, i sign-up again but this time i put Arlene's name and immediately it replied(LoL) asking for our wedding info, they are this meticulous because they don't want suppliers to come to their forums and promote their name and bang others name, it is purely for the brides-to-be, now i understand why they rejected my name in the first place,  to prevent a possible supplier or poser and wreak the community...  W@w has so many active members, its like a wedding library, a soon-to-weds haven, it talks about everything and i mean everything about a wedding, from asking "is it ok to wear false eyelashes on your wedding" to "finding the correct bridal shoes"... i will help you find the perfect suppliers for your perfect wedding... it helped us find our wedding coordinator, florist, invitations, wedding designer and wedding musicians...

I'm Back

You heard it right, im back to blog another day...
