Just want to share this, last year i attended a mass when we went to Kamay ni Hesus at Quezon Province, when the Priest there gave us a homily about superstitious beliefs, and one of them is Sukob...
"Sukob" is made when 2 or more members of the immediate family decides to tie knot within the same year... some said that one or all of them will be cursed to live in misfortunes...
The priest said, on his homily that the original setting of the "Sukob" happened long time ago, the times when most pinoys are concentrated on farming, in a year, they only have two harvest seasons... the first one was offered ONLY to their own patron saint or commonly known as "Fiesta Opisyal", and their second harvest for their own families... if ever there is a wedding, their respective families will offer their second harvest... that's why its is forbidden to have a second wedding because they have to offer the first harvest ONLY to their patron saint... that's where "sukob" was born... and translated vigorously thru time...
in the end, its all up to us if we will going to believe it or not, for there are only two set of commandments in this world, the commandments of man (The Law) and the commandments of God... Life is a choice, we are what we choose to be...
